West Midlands Police Brass Band (Sunday only)

  •  The band was formed in Coventry in 1928. 
  • At the time it was known as the Coventry City Police Band. When the new West Midlands Police as formed many of the band players stayed the same, only the name changed. 
  • It was in 1992 that the band became known as “The West Midlands Police Brass Band”. 
  • The band is lead by Musical Director Barney Barnes MBE (awarded in 2008 New Years Honours for services to policing) who has a long history in military, wind and brass bands. 
  • The band performs at various police functions, such as WMP award ceremonies, Force Carol
  • Service and Force Open Day. We also attend memorial services, concerts, dinner parties, private occasions and parades outside the police service. 
  • The band has been fortunate enough to participate in a number of engagements overseas.”
